Mrs. J. Swetalla

Mrs. Josephine Swetalla [Josephine Korda-2], 84, Amherst, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael's Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 11.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lanark, with the Rev. Alfred Hemmersbach officiating. Burial will take place later in the parish cemetary.
Friends may call at the Jungers Funeral home in Amherst from 2 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited there Tuesday night at 8.
Mrs. Swetalla was the widow of Joseph Swetalla [Joseph Swetalla-2], who died in 1946.
She was born in Stevens Point March 15, 1881, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Antone Korda [Anton Korda-3 and Susan Czech-3]. She lived in Stevens Point until her marriage here Feb. 19, 1906. After that she resided on a farm in the Town of Lanark until 1951, when she moved to Amherst.
Her survivors include three sons, Harry [Harry Swetalla-1], Eland, William [William Swetalla-1], Amherst, and Joseph [Joseph Swetalla-1], Bakersfield, Alif.; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Mayme) Somers [Mayme Swetalla-1], Amherst, and Mrs. Amelia Murphy [Amelia Swetalla-1] and Mrs. Walter (Josephine) Hermans [Josephine Swetalla-1], Milwaukee; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Korda [Leo Korda-2], Chicago; and three sisters, Mrs. Gusty Skibba [Gusta Korda-2], Buhl, Minn., Mrs. Sam (Anna) Collier [Anna Korda-2], Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Mae Durand [Mae Korda-2], 661 Prentice St.
A son died in infancy. Three brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren also preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. James' Catholic Church, Amherst, and its Alar Society.
