1919 Marriage Leo Korda-2 to Emma Schacke-2

Stevens Point Daily Journal
April 29, 1919

A very pretty wedding, and one of much interest locally, was that of Leo F. Korda-2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Korda-3, 661 Prentice street, this city, and Miss Emma Schacke-2 of Chicago. The ceremony took place at St. Philomen's Catholic church in Chicago on Saturday morning, April 26, at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father Laukemper officiating. A solo, "Ave Maria," was sung by George Strauk, an eleven-year-old Indian boy from Oklahoma.

The bride wore a beautiful dress of ivory satin embroidered in silver, with a court train of silver lace. She also wore a veil, of liberty style, and carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Martha Schacke-2, a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and wore a dress of light green satin and a hat of light maline of the same shade. She carried a bouquet of roses. Miss Pauline Mootz, a close friend of the bride, also served as bridesmaid and wore a gown of pale blue satin and a maline hat to match. Her bouquet was also of roses.

Emil Sievert, a navy chum of the groom, was the best man, and Paul Schacke-2, brother of the bride, was usher.

Dinner was served to about forty guests, the tables being prettily decorated with ferns and roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Korda have already furnished their flat at 1938 North Ridgeway avenue, Chicago, and are already at home there. Mr. Korda, who was recently discharged from the naval service, is employed in that city.

1913 Wedding Jennie Korda-2 to John Kubiayk-2

Stevens Point Daily Journal
September 23, 1913
page 1

Married at St. Peter's

Miss Genevieve Susan Corda [Jennie Susan Korda-2], daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Corda [Anton Korda-3 and Susan Czech-3], 661 Prentice street, and John M. Kublick [John Kubiayk-2], son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kublick [Andrew and Katie Kubiaczyk-3] of Antigo, were united in marriage at St. Peter's church, Rev. Father Elbert officiating, at 9 o'clock this morning. The bridesmaid was Miss Marie Corda [Mae Korda-2], sister of the bride, and the best man was Steve Kublick [Steve Kubiayk-2], brother of the groom.

The bride wore a gown of cream brilliantine and carried lillies of the valley and the bridesmaid's dress was of cream marquisette over pink silk and she carried pink roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Kublick left for Antigo for a short visit, after which they will return to this city, where they will make their home.

[Note: I speculate that the names Jennie and Mae were not "Catholic" enough for the nuns at the school or for religious rituals like baptism and weddings so that Genevieve and Marie were Jennie and Mae's "Church names".]
